Is Barack Obama exaggerating with $85 gas tank comment?

Geschrieben in Barack Obama, Chris Matthews von Boris am 2 April 2008

Who is out of touch here? On his show Hardball on MSNBC, Chris Matthews suggested that Barack Obama was exaggerating when he told a crowd at a campaign event ”I got an email from a friend of mine; it says, just in case you’re not living in the real world, being driven around by Secret Service, it just cost me $85 to fill up my tank.”

Matthews’ comment: ”That’s a hell of a big tank, even in today’s prices. Eighty-five dollars? What is that?”

Of course Matthews was implying that Obama is indeed out of touch with reality since there is no such thing as a tank of gas worth $85.

Just for the record, any decent size SUV has a gas tank of around 25 gallons. Multiply that by $3.29 per gallon (current national average) and your at $82.25. Not too far off. So who’s out of touch here?

Watch Matthew’s failed attempt at simple arithmetic here:

Barack Obama is not a law professor, says Karl Rove

Geschrieben in Sean Hannity, Barack Obama, Karl Rove von Boris am 2 April 2008

On Hannity and Colmes, Karl Rove claimed that Barack Obama is not a law professor. The only way one can get a way with a bold-faced lie like that is on Fox News of course. That’s fair and balanced at its best.

John McCain’s daughter’s comeback from illegitimate black child to symbol of compassion

Geschrieben in Sean Hannity, Karl Rove, John McCain von Boris am 11 März 2008

“Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain for president if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?”

This push poll question from the 2000 presidential election marked the low or high point - however you look at it - of the infamous Karl Rove style of campaigning – also known as gutter politics.

George W. Bush’s chief strategist and his minions used the “poll” to suggest that the little, dark skinned girl next to McCain on the campaign trail was not his adopted daughter from Bangladesh, but a black child he fathered out of wedlock.

The poll struck a chord with South Carolina voters, effectively ending McCain’s first presidential run and handing the nomination to Bush. The rest is history.

But see, in the twisted world of Rove politics, that was then and this is now. Today, in 2008, John McCain is the Republican nominee and Karl Rove is out there pitching the story of McCain’s daughter with a “slightly” different angle.

Luckily, he can count on guys like Sean Hannity, the Republican machine’s chief Cool-Aid drinker, to sell out his radio audience of 12.5 million weekly listeners.

Does Rush Limbaugh not know Curious George?

Geschrieben in Rush Limbaugh, Barack Obama von Boris am 4 März 2008

A caller to Rush Limbaugh’s radio program yesterday made a “joke” about Barack Obama looking like Curious George, the monkey cartoon character.

Of coure Limbaugh thought that was hilarious. He started laughing, but had to acknowledge that he probably shouldn’t laugh about such an insult. Comparing an African American presidential candidate to a cartoon monkey must have even struck Limbaugh as a low blow.

The incident took a rather bizarre twist though when Limbaugh later tried to completely distance himself from having bought into a racist joke by claiming that he didn’t even know who Curious George was!

Of course that defense is suspicious on at least two levels. First, how could you grow up in the US and not know the popular cartoon character Curious George?

Second, if you indeed don’t know who the heck Curious George is, why would you laugh at a joke comparing his looks to Obama’s?

Limbaugh’s explanation: He just wanted to be nice to the caller. Sure…..

Ann Coulter also called Al Gore a total fag

Geschrieben in Ann Coulter, John Edwards von Boris am 4 März 2007

With all this hoopla surrounding Ann Coulter calling John Edwards a faggot, let’s not forget that she called Al Gore a “total fag” as well.

It seems like she would call just about anybody anything to attract attention to herself.

So one might think that simply ignoring that type of juvenile behavior would be an appropriate response.

But unfortunately Ann Coulter is no fringe character anymore. She enjoys a lot of undeserved credibility - not only with the FOX News crowd.

Watch this clip of Ann Coulter on Hardball with Chris Matthews.

Ann Coulter calls John Edwards a faggot

Geschrieben in Ann Coulter, John Edwards von Boris am 4 März 2007

Right-wing pundit Ann Coulter’s shtick has always been to push the boundaries of good taste. She brings color into the world of political punditry, no doubt. But whenever she slides into her name-calling-mode as she did during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), she sounds completely juvenile.

Surprise! Michael Savage already dropped by Creative Artists Agency

Geschrieben in Michael Savage von Boris am 3 März 2007

We reported early this week how right-wing talk radio host Michael Savage “sounded like an aspiring teenage-actor who was promised the world by a dubious, predatory talent agent” when he announced that one of the largest talent agencies, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), was going to represent him in all areas.

Savage and his super-inflated ego got carried away dreaming about what Hollywood might have in store for him now - movies, television and all. Savage even claimed that he can do rap music.

Listen to Michael Savage boasting (MP3 00:32)

Now, even Creative Artists Agency realized that the only thing Michael Savage has in common with rap music is his homophobia.

This week Savage went off on Melissa Etheridge’s Oscar win, because she had thanked her wife during her acceptance speech. Savage commented:

“I don’t like a woman married to a woman. It makes me want to puke. I want to vomit when I hear it. I think it’s child abuse”

So a couple of days after announcing the partnership with Savage, CAA has already dumped him like, well, “an aspiring teenage-actor who was promised the world by a dubious, predatory talent agent”.

Of course, there’s nothing predatory about CAA. It’s one of the most repected talent agencies with over 30 years of experience in the industry. But it’s absolutely stunning that CAA would sign Michael Savage in the first place when they can’t stomach him being who he is.

The statement that led to the cancelation of the contract was absolutely nothing new for Savage. CAA must have been aware that Savage was fired from MSNBC in 2003 for wishing Aids on a gay caller from San Francisco.

So why the upset over a statement that was almost tame for Michael Savage’s standards? He churns out a barrage of hatred on his radio show “The Savage Nation” on a daily basis. That’s what makes him entertaining.

To keep up with Savage’s rants every day. Listen to the show or visit http://www.Rushbo.com.

How will Valerie Plame Movie play in the Conservative Media today?

Geschrieben in Rush Limbaugh, Drudge Report, Conservative Opinion von Boris am 2 März 2007

Movie studio Warner Bros. announced that it has secured the life rights of Valerie Plame and her husband Joe Wilson. The Drudge Report has linked to the story which means that the conservative opinion makers in talk radio and the blogosphere will engage in a feeding frenzy over the story today.

Valerie Plame, of course, was the infamous CIA agent whose identity White House officials allegedly leaked to reporters in order to discredit her husband’s allegation that the Bush administration had manipulated intelligence about weapons of mass destruction to justify the war with Iraq. Plame filed a lawsuit against Dick Cheney, Bush advisor Karl Rove and Scooter Libby, the former chief of staff for Cheney. Libby is currently on trial for perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to investigators during the Valeria Plame scandal. Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh has gone into hyper mode on several occasions over the unfolding events related to the Plame scandal. The severity of the attacks launched at Plame and Wilson by conservative pundits illustrates how nervous the Right is about allegations that the inner circle of the White manufactured the rational for the invasion of Iraq.

My prediction is that Rush Limbaugh will go to great length again today on his program “The Rush Limbaugh Show” to personally attack Plame and Wilson as spotlight-hungry, compulsive liars with a political agenda. The Drudge Report has set the table for a feast and Rush will not decline the invitation. Come back later to www.Rushbo.com to listen to audio clips of today’s “The Rush Limbaugh Show”.
